Woolworth Opening In Summer 2012

The retail specialist COMFORT has mediated a rental contract for a development project for the
Hallesche Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH in the Große Ulrichstraße 3 in Halle (Saale). Woolworth
has secured an approximately 2,300 square metre retail area located on two levels on the ground and
first floor. The construction of these business premises in the Große Ulrichstraße 3, which closes one
of the most gaping holes between buildings in the inner city, was commenced in April this year. This
swift implementation has only been possible due to the excellent cooperation with the City of Halle,
especially the Department II, and the planning and architect’s office RKW Leipzig. Completion could
occur in June 2012. The rental contract has been mediated by the Leipzig office of COMFORT BerlinLeipzig

Woolworth looks back on a long tradition in Germany: The first Woolworth branch opened more than
80 years ago, on 30th July 1927, in Bremen. The principle maintained by the Woolworth founder,
Frank Winfield Woolworth, revolutionised the retail trade. Instead of placing the goods to be sold into
drawers and shelves behind a sales counter, the goods were attractively and openly presented on
tables. The items were offered at a fixed price of 5 and 10 cents.

Since 1st July 2010, Woolworth GmbH has run under new ownership and management. Currently,
Woolworth operates approximately 150 branches in Germany with 4,300 employees. The long-term
objective is to densify this branch network with 500 stores in Germany

After the reunification, the Hallesche Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH was generated from the VEB
(K) Dienstleistungskombinat (Service Collective) Halle and can look back on more than 20 years’
experience in the field of commercial property development. Thanks to the R & R Vermietungs- und
Verwaltungsgesellschaft belonging in this group of companies, amongst other things the project Haus
am Leipziger Turm has been implemented with the tenants Commerzbank AG and Burger King. The
activities of affiliated companies reach beyond the city boundaries and include, for example, the
portfolio development and leasing of commercial property in the inner city of Leipzig.
